I was advised to come here by a friend who recently moved to the neighborhood and who knows his Mexican food. My first thought on tasting the camarones la Sirenita (shrimp in chipotle sauce) was "wow! That's flavor!" Service was fast and polite. They had a Mariachi band--quite good and rather loud, which I could imagine would not be conducive to a cozy, romantic evening but I found them to be fun. Beans, rice, and chips were all good. Guacamole that came as a garnish on my shrimp was quite fresh.
As the name suggests (la Sirenita means "mermaid"), they are known for seafood: several kinds of seviche, seafood stews, and fish or shrimp either fried, grilled, or in various sauces. They also have a surprising selection of American standards like burgers, which I did not try.
The restaurant has a fairly large parking lot with a security guard. Inside there is a large main dining room with a bar along one side; this is where the band plays. There is also a quieter and slightly smaller dining room. Menu, staff, and most of the clientele were bilingual.
I'm looking forward to coming back -

Generous portions, even if you order a single taco combination for $6.99. The fish taco was large and served with a huge side of beans and veggie rice (not the usual red colored side dish.) No tartar sauce or anything unnecessary in the taco. Just a big, fat handful of diced and grilled fish. My friend ordered green chilaquiles, also served with a enough rice for 2 people craving carbs. The tomatillo sauce was spicy and tangy. The chips were fresh and the thick salsa was seasoned perfectly with plenty of green chilies.
Prices for fish and seafood dishes were reasonable, and they serve breakfast all day. Nice, attentive and friendly waitresses. The atmosphere and decor reminded me of typical seafood restaurants in Ensenada. We will be back for dinner and live mariachis for sure! -

Party of 10 and they had good customer service. The place was not too busy, it was a Saturday afternoon and there was a trio there for about 30 minutes.
Everyone was happy with their food, didnt get pictures of everything. If you like oysters my favorite was oysters al mojo de ojo, just make sure they are spiced right. We had 2 orders and one didn't have any garlic. We had camarones ahogados, love that they keep the sauce on the side so you can add as needed. The red ones were really spicy, green were perfect spice level. -
